Editorial Policy and Methodology

Money Meister publishes educational UK finance content and free calculators. This page explains how we source data, review updates, and correct errors.

1. Our mission and scope

We create practical tools and plain-English guides for UK personal finance topics, including tax, take-home pay, mortgages, debt, pensions, and savings. Content is educational and does not replace advice from a regulated professional.

2. Sources and evidence standards

We prioritize primary and official UK sources. When possible, we cite:

  • GOV.UK and HMRC manuals, rates, and thresholds
  • Office for Budget Responsibility and HM Treasury publications
  • Bank of England and Office for National Statistics data
  • Official lender criteria or regulator publications for mortgage content

3. Calculator methodology

Calculator outputs are estimates based on published rules and assumptions shown in each tool. They may differ from payroll software, lender underwriting engines, or bespoke tax advice.

We test calculations against sample cases and revise logic when UK rules change. If a result appears incorrect, contact us and include your inputs so we can reproduce and investigate quickly.

4. Update policy

We review time-sensitive pages around Budget statements, tax-year rollovers, and major HMRC threshold updates. Articles and calculators display relevant update dates where available. Priority pages are reviewed at least quarterly.

5. Corrections policy

If we identify a material error, we correct it as soon as practical and update the page date. You can report potential issues at hello@moneymeister.co.uk.

6. Commercial and advertising disclosure

Money Meister may display ads and may include commercial relationships in future. We disclose material relationships where relevant. Editorial content is produced independently and is not personalized financial advice.
